I really love visiting West Point in the fall. I am not sure that counts as Upstate New York, but it is a beautiful drive.

What a great subject. I love fall! My son is receiving services for his speech, and we’re working diligently on words that start with ‘F’. Our mantra lately has been, “Fall is Fun!” :)

Some that come to mind for me:
- Leaf-peeping in the Adirondacks
- Fall foliage train tour
- Enjoying the waterfalls and gorgeous gorges (hehe) in Ithaca – what a setting in the fall!
- Tim’s Pumpkin Patch in Marcellus
- The Lafayette Apple Festival
- Buying a special treat or baked good from Navarino Orchards – ooh, now I’m hungry
- Apple-picking anywhere along Rt. 20/LaFayette
- Taking the kid(s) to one of the weekend fall festivals at Abbott Farms in Baldwinsville or The Hollow in Onondaga

taking a drive on rte 20 from Auburn to Lafayette with camera at the ready. .. or slightly modify that and switch to Old Seneca Turnpike. It’s all about the breathtaking hills, curves, and autumn leaves.

Maureen-
You had me at #4…..but it has to be a real fireplace, not one of the fake gas thingies.
To add…I love walking/biking at Onondaga Lake Park at this time of year. And a ride to Highland Forest and that area is a must as well. Throw in Green Lakes for good measure.

Susan that’s enough out of you. ……Susan is my baby sister who lives in Hilton Head, South Carolina and whom I adore for many reasons, not the least of which is her terrific, dry sense of humor, except when it turns cold in the northeast and then her jokes about palm trees, beaches and sunshine are not funny, not funny at all.

I love Susan’s idea, especailly this October. I have always loved this time of year in our area. So many places already mentioned I have enjoyed over the last many years. I have a few to add. Stony Brook State Park and Letchworth. Driving from Cortland toward Moravia and then up to Skaneateles. Buttermilk Falls, Tremain State Park. We are over due for some clear blue sky days. The leaves are near peak and and hopefully we will see some sun and warmth. Also Middleburgh, just south of Thruway before Herkimer. Apple picking with grandchildren and friends has been the best. Carol

Letchworth State Park! Absolutely goregous this time of year. I ran in several cross-country meets there back in the day.

Missing you, Maureen! I may have to start reading your blog regularly in order to make sure I stay in touch. :)

Good luck with your party!!

Jenna, so good to hear from you! Our loss in Syracuse is Boston’s gain for sure. Will be in touch. M.

A leisurely drive north on Rte 3 with frequent stops from Port Ontario to Alex Bay (does this still count as CNY?)
