Today was so beautiful outside that I didn’t know whether to go to Jamesville Beach where Christian was running for the Nottingham High School cross country team, or to have my morning coffee staring out the window of the breakfast room.
Should I start tidying up the flower beds, cutting the wilted perennials within a few inches of the ground and cultivating the soil?
Perhaps I should refill the bird feeders which are so popular now, I may have to sell a kidney to keep up the need for black oil sunflower seed and suet cakes.
I may want to sit outdoors and catch up with friends by phone.
The bird bath needs cleaning. I could let the dogs play with the hose after I’m done cleaning for the birds.
I might prune the shrubby dogwood under the kitchen window. Today would be a good day to do it. I wouldn’t get too hot dragging the branches into the woods.
I probably should clean out the left side of the garage which the cat is messing up now that it’s getting too cold at night to leave the window open for him to come and go.
I think I should do some ghost writing for a blogger in the Philippines who assigned me three articles.
Christian wants more groceries. Maybe we should take a quick trip to P and C right around the corner.
A glass of wine would be wonderful at 5:00 in my lounge chairs overlooking the back yard, back lit by the setting sun.
Unable to chose, today on this most lovely of September days, I did all of it.

Wow, you must be exhausted! It was a perfect day and I did enjoy it. My granddaughter competed in an Irish Fest at the Horticulture Bldg. She came in first in her age group of 18 girls. It was exciting as she had fallen last Apr. at same venue and didn’t place. My daughter in law and I managed a stage for dancers in the afternoon and we were out of there by 3. I did get to go outside during the day and sat on a bench by the 9/11 Memorials. The beautiful flowers in front of the memorial are still in excellent condition. It’s a very inspiring setting. I drove directly to Onondaga Lake, walked and soaked up some of that late afternoon sun. Came home and finished reading Ted Kennedy’s new book on my deck. My yard is lush, my mums are colorful and life is good. Hoping to do a little Italian Fest today. Enjoy our end of summer. Carol
Carol, you had a perfect day too! Congrats to your granddaughter for performing so well. Her parents must be real proud too. Funny how peaceful the Fairgrounds become the moment after the State Fair, isn’t it? Enjoy, enjoy. Maureen
Good Mornin Maureen, It is funny most all your choses of days activitties are the same as here in The Swamp. Golf won here at 7:30 at a foggy,38 degrees at a Marcy golf course. Hard to believe one pair of shorts showed up out of 24 players. (Not me for sure) A great day was had by all . The 5 o’clock wine time was on the program for me and The War Dept. (my wife) to watch our animal, bird, evening activities. Long sleeves were the outfit of the evening front porch event. Not much sun this time a year here at Swamp Hollow, any time of the day. Most wonderful day here for both off us. Night football won out here too see the Giants upset the opening of the Cowboys new field. Go Giants! Hope your day was as good as ours.
Denny, what a terrific lineup of activities for you. And how ’bout that new stadium! 105,000 fans in one place?? That’s almost the population of Syracuse in one place! Thanks for the update. Maureen
