Pretty Soon

March 16, 2009

Pretty soon:

1. I’ll see the first yellow and purple crocus in my yard.

2.  The lawn will be the first green thing.

3.  I’ll finish raking the leaves from the fall.

4.  It will be harder to spot the cardinals in the woods.

5.  My old cat will be ready to start killing things outdoors again.

6.  I’ll refill the propane tanks for the grill.

7. The garage will be cluttered with bikes.

8. I’ll vacuum the winter crud from the car mats.

9. The humidifiers will be put away in the basement.

10. I’ll fix the broken screen on the patio door.

What’s happening pretty soon at your place?  I’d love to know.

1) Uncovering the motorcycles and getting out to ride
2) Clean out the garage
3) Inside spring cleaning
4) Wash all the road grime off the cars.
5) Just sitting outside with Donna and enjoy the sun and warmth with a hot cup of coffee. (My favorite)

Denise, so many wonderful things happening “pretty soon” at your place! Thanks for the idea and I will air out my son too. I wish I had thought of that one. :) Maureen

From Subscriber Jan, thank you Jan!
I’m anxiously awaiting my crocus and daffodils ,but I know they usually get covered with snow at least once after they start blooming. I’ve really been enjoying your e-mails so keep them coming . P.S. if you see the guys from tv5 say Hi and tell them they are missed everyday. Jan

Jan, you are so right about the snow on the spring flowers. How they survive that cold banket, I’ll never know. I’d go right back into the ground with that treatment. Thanks for your post. Maureen

Pretty soon:

1. I’ll be gardening in my yard

2. I’ll see the daffodils peek through the grass

3. The grass will turn to a healthy shade of green

4. Beach trips will be made

5. Every single box of Girl Scout cookies will be sold

6. All the geese will fly back north over my head

7. Spring cleaning will be done in my house

8. You’ll hear that somebody’s pet horse/cow/goat/sheep gave birth

9. Bathing suits will be for sale in stores (actually I think they already are!)

10. Lemonade will replace hot cocoa

From Subscriber Ernie. Thank you Ernie! I agree with you. Maureen

Maureen,
At my place I raked up “6″ bags of lawn debris and edged all of the mulch beds. Our Daffodils are coming up
and we’re deciding what flowers to plant.
The air is warmer and I just love being out in the sun. In California they have wild fires and the earth shakes,
in Florida they have hurricanes and in Alabama they get tornadoes. I’ll take the snow and the change of seasons
and the planting and resulting flowers are reward enough for living where we do.
Peace
Ernie DeCaro
